Last week, over 20 priests from the Diocese of Sandhurst gathered at the Cadell on the Murray in Victoria, Australia for an in-service seminar for Overseas-Born Priests. The seminar was headed by Bishop Shane Mackinlay, Fr. Joe Taylor, and Fr. Jake Mudge, coordinator for Clergy Life and Ministry in the Diocese. This year's seminar focused on Administration, with key persons from the Diocesan Chancery in attendance to share their input on the structures and agencies available for parishes to tap into. Additionally, office managers from St. Brendan's in Shepparton and Kennington also came to share their experiences on the ins and outs of the running of a parish.
A good part of the seminar was dedicated to the sharing of the personal vocation stories of each priest, which was an opportunity for bonding and creating meaningful connections among the priests themselves. Overall, the seminar was a very delightful and successful gathering. The hope and prayer for the Diocese of Sandhurst is that this seminar will strengthen the support system among priests and empower them to deal with the day-to-day challenges of administration in their own parishes.
The Diocese of Sandhurst is committed to providing its priests with the resources, support, and community they need to thrive in their ministry. We congratulate Bishop Shane Mackinlay, Fr. Joe Taylor, and Fr. Jake Mudge on organizing such a successful seminar and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on the priests of the Diocese.
