Bishop Shane Mackinlay of the Diocese of Sandhurst has embarked on a journey to the Philippines along with Fr. Rene Ramirez and other Filipino priests. The primary purpose of Bishop Shane's trip is to visit the families of Filipino priests in the Diocese of Sandhurst and personally express appreciation for their ministry in Australian parishes.
During his trip, Bishop Shane will also meet with the Provincial of the Rogationist Fathers and visit some houses of the Rogationists in the Philippines to which Fr. Rene belongs to. He is also scheduled to meet with several bishops in their respective dioceses as well as the Archbishops of Cebu, Malolos and Zamboanga.
"I am honoured to have been invited to preside at one of the masses on the day of the Fiesta for Señor Santo Niño in Cebu," said Bishop Shane. "Please pray for me during this time, as well as for the communities I will visit and for the priests from Sandhurst who will accompany me."
The Diocese of Sandhurst is grateful for the generous ministry of Filipino priests in their parishes. Bishop Shane's trip to the Philippines is a testament to the strong bond between the Australian and Filipino Catholic communities and a sign of appreciation for the hard work and dedication of Filipino priests in Sandhurst.
The trip is expected to last for two weeks, and Bishop Shane is looking forward to visiting the beautiful country of the Philippines and spending time with the local communities.
