Installation Mass of Fr. Rene Ramirez RCJ as Parish Priest of St. Mel’s

November 27, 2023On November 26, 2023, the Diocese of Sandhurst formally welcomed the Congregation of the Rogationists of the Heart of Jesus during the Installation Mass of Fr. Rene Ramirez RCJ. The ceremony was held at St. Mel's Parish in Shepparton South, Victoria at 5:00 pm, and was led by Bishop Shane Mackinlay DD.
The concelebrating priests included the Vicar General, Joe Taylor, Fr. Orville Cajigal, Provincial of the Rogationists in Asia-Pacific, Mons Peter Jeffrey, Fr. Cornelio Solis, Fr. Dean Bongat, retired priest Fr Michael Grace, and Rogationist Priests from the Philippines, Vietnam, and the Archdiocese of Melbourne. The Mass was attended by various groups, including a delegation from Holy Family Parish in Braybrook and Maidstone (VIC), where Fr. Rene previously served as a parish priest for eight years.
Additionally, some school staff from St. Mel’s Primary School and St. Anne’s College were present during the Mass and welcome dinner, which took place at the GV Hotel in downtown Shepparton.
The event marked a significant milestone for the Congregation of the Rogationists of the Heart of Jesus, as they were officially welcomed into the Diocese of Sandhurst. The installation of Fr. Rene Ramirez RCJ as the new priest of St. Mel's Parish was a momentous occasion for the community, and the presence of various groups and individuals made it even more special.
